About Our Workshop Leaders...
Weaving since childhood, Amy finds order and rhythm in placing each thread in my designs and enjoy the feel of the textures of the fibers in her hands with an affinity for clean, simple designs which utilize and enhance the materials and techniques and bring them together. Her designs and patterns are often inspired by the materials on hand, using recycled mill-end materials when possible. The finished products are suitable for both traditional and contemporary settings. Amy has also had an interest in Miniatures, as long as her interest in in weaving! When Working on a Dollhouse several years ago she decided she could weave her own Miniature rugs, rather than the early printed ones she had as a child, and if she could make 1, she could make several for other people and for sale. This returned her to the world of Miniatures.
Amy completed an M.S. in Textiles and Related Art from the University of RI and studied and worked in several Art, History and Design Museums, demonstrating in historic settings at Shaker Villages and also analyzing and managing collections behind the scenes. Amy currently has her own Studio & Gallery in New Bedford, MA. Her work has been featured in the Directory of Early American Craftsmen 1999-2003, in the 1999 Holiday collections of The White House, House Beautiful 2013, Design New England2013, RI Home Design 2014, Newport Life 2015 magazines, & and has been sent around the world. |
